The estate, acquired by Émile Castéja in 1973 at the same time as Château Pignon (Lalande-de-Pomerol), is now run by his son, Philippe Castéja.
« I really liked this wine and
thought it would be good for
the house to have a Pomerol. »
Emile Castéja
Located in the shadow of the church tower of the commune of Pomerol, the vineyard of Château du Domaine de l’Église extends over a 7-hectare terroir. Planted with 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc on gravel and clay soils, it produces top-quality grapes.

A few years after its acquisition, Philippe Castéja took over the management of Château du Domaine de l’Église. Today, surrounded by a number of enlightened collaborators, the wine has reached a level comparable to that of the Grands Crus Classés.
Château du Domaine de l’Église AOC Pomerol is a full-bodied, silky wine with rich aromas. Sought-after by wine lovers, it has for some years now offered exceptional quality, similar to that of the Grands Vins.
« It’s a discreet cru,
but highly sought-after
by connoisseurs. »
